About the Founder, James Makela

I have been a licensed Insurance Agent & National Premium Finance Broker since 2004. 

When I am not exhibiting at national insurance conventions, I enjoy singing, playing guitar, going to the beach & camping with my family. 

I have been know to join the bands performing at the conventions. 

American Guardian was created because I recognized the pressing need for insurance agencies to have better E&O coverage at a lower cost.

In June 2020, I shifted focus from Premium Finance marketing & began managing the company emails. It was during this time that I noticed insurance agencies requesting premium finance loans for their own E&O policies. Some agencies were paying over $5,000 for policies from Non-Admitted Carriers that lacked crucial endorsements like First Dollar Defense & Defense Outside the Limits. Conversely, other agencies found E&O policies from Admitted Carriers costing under $2,000, yet these policies did include First Dollar Defense and Defense Outside the Limits. It was clear that the insurance agencies that financed their premiums with me needed better options for their insurance coverage.
