American Guardian Insurance was founded in June 2020, during the height of the pandemic.  

Founder & Broker, James Makela started American Guardian Insurance because he saw a need for agents to have better E&O coverage for less.

Since 2005, James Makela has been the National Insurance Premium Finance Sales Manager for General Agents Acceptance Corporation. 

In June 2020, James was no longer marketing premium financing and took over the position answering the company emails. 

What he saw was his current retail agents requesting premium finance quotes for their own E&O policies. 

Some of the agents were paying over $5,000 with non-admitted carriers. These policies included taxes & G/A policy fees. Some of these policies did not include First Dollar Defense or Defense Outside the Limits. These are 2 very important endorsements to an E&O policy.

Other agents were paying under $2,000 for an E&O policy from an Admitted Carrier. These policy did not included taxes. Most included a G/A policy fee. These policies included First Dollar Defense and Defense Outside the Limits.

American Guardian can bypass the G/A policy fees for Arch & Aspen American, new business policies.

We may be able to save insurance agents the cost of these fees for their current Arch & Aspen American policies.
